I'm Madeleine!

I’m the girlfriend you text when you’re scratching your head reading labels in the grocery store, the confidante you blurt your “I can’t tell anyone else!” bathroom shenanigans to and the handy science nerd who comes through with the best cost-cutting, time-saving health tips you don’t know how you ever lived without.

hello,

I shied away from using all-natural face serums for a long time. I was concerned that, since these serums were mostly created out of plant-based oils, my skin would look and feel oily and would result in massive breakouts.

I’ve never been more wrong!

About two years ago, I finally decided to try out facial serums and haven’t looked back since. I am in LOVE — my skin feels more supple, nourished, and hydrated than ever before. And honestly, since I’ve started using facial serums, I’ve gotten more compliments about how nice my skin looks than ever before. Plus, because I feel more confident in my skin, I now rarely ever wear cover-up (granted, that’s a personal choice!). (Note: Face serums are a great way to nourish your skin and facial cleansing oils are great at removing dirt and impurities! More on this in a separate post!)

Anyway, I could go on and on about my love for my favorite all-natural face serums but for the sake of time, and your sanity, figured I’d just list a few of my favorite products here and let you experience the magic for yourself.

My five current favorite all-natural face serums

1) Santosha Co.

Based out of Madison, Wisconsin this family-owned business, founded by Ashlee Assadi, uses nothing but natural organic plant-based ingredients. In fact, about 50% of the ingredients used in Santosha Co.’s skincare products are grown and sustainably foraged by Ashlee and her family right on her farm! Basically, you’re getting only the purest and freshest ingredients and, trust me, your skin will thank you!

100% free from GMO, Toxins, Fillers, Synthetic Chemicals, Artificial Fragrances, Artificial Colors

My favorite serum: Calendula + Balm of Gilead Facial Serum

I love Santosha’s serum — it smells great and leaves my skin feeling super hydrated and supple.
It can be used as a moisturizer after cleansing your face either in the morning or the evening . Just a few drops (2-3) goes a long way. I also recommend using it alongside their Balm of Gilead.

Ingredients:
Sunflower (helianthus annus) seed oil^, rosehip (rosa canina) oil^, jojoba (simmondsia chinensis) oil, sweet almond (prunus dulcis) oil, cold-pressed Daucus carota (carrot) seed oil, balm of gilead (balsam poplar)^^ extract, marigold (tagetes) flower extract^, Essential Oil Blend, tocopherol (tocopherol is a fancy name for Vitamin E).
^=USDA Certified Organic

2) Qēt Botanicals

Lisa Brill, the founder of Qēt Botanicals, has created a line of low-waste, all-natural, handcrafted skincare products that’s sure to satisfy any skin ailment. Plus all of Qēt’s products are EWG verified, which I absolutely appreciate. From daily cleansing oils to hair care, Qet has got you covered. Fun fact: I came across this brand while strolling through San Clemente’s main street about a year ago while living in California (I lived in San Clemente for about 2 years). In fact, Qēt’s Hydrating Day Serum was the first facial serum I ever tried, i.e., my gateway serum to all the other serums if you will.

“Hand-crafted from start to finish, 100% natural, and without a single drop of synthetic chemicals. This is something we can all believe in.”

3) Pure Mana Hawaii

Based on the Big Island of Hawaii, Pure Mana’s skincare line is made entirely from locally sourced, farm-grown, and wild-crafted ingredients. They personally grow, harvest, process, and hand-press the purest organic Macadamia Nut oil, Kona Green Coffee and Vanilla oils right on their farm. So, similar to Santosh Co., you’re getting the purest and freshest ingredients. I can not say enough about Pure Mana Hawaii’s face serums — with every use I feel as though my skin is being nourished, pampered, brightened, and rejuvenated. Hello home spa-care! (Note: These serums tend to be a bit on the pricier side but, in my opinion, worth every single penny. My skin has never felt or looked so healthy. Seriously!)

5) Captain Blankenship

Captain Blankenship was founded by Jana Blankenship out of her “desire to create organic beauty products that create a direct link with nature.” Pretty sure she’s done it, too! I haven’t tested out all her products, yet, but what I love about Captain Blankenship, other than the fact that they use nothing but organic, plant-based ingredients, is that they donate 1% of all their sales to local and national non-profits who are on a mission to protect, preserve, and conserve our land and its resources! Also, you can purchase some of her products in Target!

“Beauty wild with nature.”
