Why I love this dressing?

This dressing holds a special place in my heart because of its simplicity and incredible taste. With just six basic ingredients – honey, olive oil, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, along with a dash of freshly ground black pepper and a pinch of salt– it has become my go-to choice for those evenings when cooking feels like a Herculean task, but I still crave a delicious and healthy meal.

On such nights, I usually make a simple kale salad topped with chopped pecans, drizzle it with a bit of honey mustard dressing, and pair it with a bowl of quinoa and a fried egg. It’s not fancy, but it’s super filling, nourishing, and tastes delicious.

Adjust This Recipe To Your Liking

I’m not one for overly sweet flavors, so when I crafted this recipe, I aimed for a honey mustard dressing that strikes a balance. Initially, I experimented with adding more mustard, but I found it overpowered the delicate sweetness of the honey, defeating the purpose of creating a honey mustard dressing. I found the perfect middle ground – not too sweet, not too spicy, just right. You could even call me the Goldilocks of honey mustard dressings! 😉 Of course, if you have a sweeter tooth, don’t hesitate to add more honey!

Most importantly, I highly encourage you to use Dijon mustard when making this dressing. Trust me; yellow French’s mustard won’t do this recipe justice. Personally, I love combining whole-grain Dijon mustard and regular Dijon mustard for the added texture and depth it brings to the dressing.

Honey Mustard Salad Dressing

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons whole grain Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • Ground pepper, to taste
  • A pinch of salt


In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients and whisk until thoroughly blended, achieving a smooth consistency.
